About the Event
Remember the Titans (2000) is a sports drama based on the true story of the T.C. Williams High School football team in Alexandria, Virginia, during 1971—a time of intense racial integration in schools.
When the school hires Herman Boone (Denzel Washington), a Black coach, to lead the newly integrated team, tensions erupt between Black and white players, as well as in the community. Boone must work alongside Bill Yoast (Will Patton), the respected white coach he replaced, to build trust and unity.
Through grueling training camp sessions, shared struggles, and moments of personal growth, the players slowly overcome prejudice. Key friendships—such as between team captains Gerry Bertier (white) and Julius Campbell (Black)—show that respect and brotherhood can cross racial divides.
The team’s undefeated season becomes more than just a sports achievement; it helps shift attitudes in the town, proving that change is possible when people choose to stand together.
