Miranda -Pestana, PhD

Dr. Andrea Carolina Miranda Pestana is an Afro-Colombian scholar who has conducted research in Colombia, Panama, and the U.S. Dr. Miranda Pestana  has published academic and non-academic essays in Spanish in Mexico and Chile. Dr. Miranda Pestana has been awarded funding for her doctoral research, including the Initiatives for Women in 2023 and 2025, granted by SUNY University at Albany, the Patricia Stocking Brown award, and the Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA) Spring grant in 2024; these grants contributed significantly to her research. Dr. Miranda Pestana is currently working as a Policy and Strategy Coordinator at the Center for Law and Justice in Albany.
