Season's Greetings from the Center for Law and Justice! As we embrace the holiday season, the Center for Law and Justice (CFLJ) extends warm wishes to our community and supporters. This time of reflection and gratitude underscores the importance of our shared commitment to justice, equality, and systemic reform.

Founded in 1985 by Dr. Alice Green, CFLJ has been a beacon for civil rights advocacy, striving to dismantle systemic injustices and promote equitable treatment for all. Our initiatives, including the Alice Moore Center, the Paden Retreat, and the ZYD Project, are dedicated to empowering individuals and fostering community engagement.

In light of the upcoming presidential transition, our mission holds renewed significance. Transitions in leadership present both challenges and opportunities for advancing basic rights and justice reform. Transitions can also lead to uncertainties, particularly concerning the continuity of policies aimed at promoting equality and justice. It is during these times that organizations like CFLJ play a crucial role in advocating for the protection and advancement of human rights.

The recent election has brought to the forefront discussions about criminal justice reform, voting rights, and systemic inequality. CFLJ remains dedicated to holding our leaders accountable and ensuring that the progress made in these areas is not only preserved but also expanded upon.

Our advocacy efforts are particularly focused on:

  • Criminal Justice Reform: Challenging unjust sentencing laws and promoting rehabilitation over incarceration.

  • Equity: Ensuring that all members of the community have access to basic services such as: education, healthcare, and housing.

  • Community Empowerment: Providing resources and support to marginalized communities to amplify their voices.

As we move into the new year, CFLJ is committed to:

  • Engaging with policymakers to advocate for laws that promote justice and equality.

  • Educating the public about their rights and the importance of civic participation.

  • Collaborating with community partners to address systemic issues at the local level.

We invite you to stand with us during this pivotal time. Your support—whether through volunteering, participating in our events, or making a donation—fuels our mission and amplifies our impact.

What I meant by getting the gangs out of the system, they must change as well, it's not a process that is as easy as sitting down and learning, it must start somewhere. No one told me, this is my belief, that those that are in the gangs are looking for someone to help them fight or be a part of something because family doesn't even notice them outside of seeing them and seeing a need for change.

This is why I studied and Mastered Criminal Justice in '23. As I was completing my lessons they were all centered around making changes through the system so that it would be conducive for prisoners to go there. Because they will learn how to change their actions and their minds to become model citizens before they get out. Thereby seeing recidivism be cut down. The whole purpose of the system is to help them change, but it must change in their minds first if they are planning to be successful in the process of release.

The problem is to keep the prisons going, rehabilitation is not presented in the right way. Meaning they may have it, but they are not…
