The SAFE Parole Act is now a bill in both houses of the legislature. Tom
Duane has sponsored it in the Senate, where it is # S 5374, and Jeffrion
Aubry has sponsored it in the Assembly, # S 7959.

A majority of the members of the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Corrections
Committee have to vote it out of their committee and onto to the Senate
floor where it also will need a majority to pass.  Same thing in the
Assembly Correction Committee.  When it passes both houses, the Governor
will have to sign it before it becomes law.
