2016 Voting Rights Workshops

The Center for Law and Justice’s Voting Rights Education workshops are designed to inform those with criminal convictions and those who are currently detained in local county jails or correctional facilities about their right to vote, the voter registration process, voter eligibility and how to vote via absentee ballot. In partnership with the New York Civil Liberties Union and the League of Women Voters, the Center for Law and Justice Voting Rights Education workshops hope to provide individuals with information that will clarify misconceptions about who can and cannot vote, and under what circumstances a person may be barred from exercising this right.  Our goal is to dispel some of the common myths surrounding voting rights and give people who may not have been informed about their rights the information they need to be able to exercise their right to vote and partake in the country’s political process.
